MOV DIAGNOSTIC TESTING
AMES supplies qualified Technicians and Analysts to perform all aspects of MOV diagnostic testing using any of the predominant diagnostic testing platforms and a variety of strain gauges used to measure both torque and thrust. AMES personnel have a long history of MOV diagnostic testing expertise including engineering services and the development of related patents. AMES technicians are experts at the installation of various strain gauges and at identifying MOV anomalies based on various trace characteristics. Additional capabilities include the performance of butterfly valve testing, calibration of diagnostic testing components, spring pack testing, and analysis of test data to determine acceptability. Support is also provided for motor diagnostic systems that allow monitoring of the MOV remotely from the MCC.

AOV DIAGNOSTIC TESTING
Control valves are the main means of controlling plant power generation and efficiency. Diagnostic analysis of these components quickly identifies degradation in valve condition and operation, which in turn provides gains in plant control and operation. Direct cost savings can be found in isolating and correcting leaking steam valves resulting in the recovery of lost megawatts and money. Additional cost savings can be realized in the justification of extending maintenance frequencies and focusing of troubleshooting efforts on the exact component causing a problem.
AMES provides trained and qualified technicians and analysts to perform all aspects of AOV diagnostic testing, data analysis, calibration and repair. Multiple examples are available documenting the recovery of Megawatts previously lost to improperly set control valves and the resolution of recurring problems. Top
WELDING AND PIPEFITTING
AMES supports field installations of piping, components, and supports in accordance with ASME Section IX and Section XI requirements. Shop and Field (Nuclear and Fossil) support has been provided for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, ranging from carbon, stainless, aluminum, and many austenitic metals as well as heavy wall pipe and plate, large and small bore valve replacements, and large bore valve seat replacements and repairs, as well as skid prefabrication under our Section IX Program.
AMES can provide specialized automatic welding and machining equipment to facilitate in-line repairs of various components to restore to OEM dimensions or customer specifications. AMES has several full-time welding engineers on staff to support welder qualifications, as well as weld procedures covering most common processes employed for general piping replacement and valve refurbishment. Prior to deployment welders are pre-qualified at AMES’ shop facilities to mitigate on-site welder test failures. All Welder qualifications are pursuant to AMES’ Section IX program. AMES pipefitters will be qualified on AMES Mechanical TPEs covering Rigging, Mechanical Joints, Valve Fundamentals, and Hytorks. At customer request, pipefitters can also be qualified to the AMES’ Valve TPEs (see attachment) to support repairs of gate, globe, AOV, and check valves.
